Less than six months after the opening of a bookie at a resort near Albuquerque, a second New Mexico sportsbook launched in Santa Fe. Players can now place their bets at the Hilton Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino. It is the biggest casino in Northern New Mexico.

Although the state hasn’t legalized sports betting, it allows existing tribal casinos to offer it. The second New Mexico sportsbook will be the first in the state to offer bets on races.

The new sportsbook is a partnership between South Point Hotel and Casino and National Sports Book Management. Under the deal, Las Vegas Dissemination Company will provide the software sportsbook and other services, including kiosks, software, and hardware support. Also, the Stadium Technology Group will provide the technology.

Second New Mexico Sportsbook Opens in Santa FeThe Buffalo Thunder Casino is where you can find the second New Mexico sportsbook. The casino has almost 70,000 square feet of casino area. Once it becomes operational, other tribes might consider offering sports betting in their casinos as well.

The New Mexico Attorney General office told gambling news reporters that they are working with state lawmakers to form a framework for other tribal casinos. In addition, the Pueblo of Santa Ana Gaming Regulatory oversees sports betting in the Santa Ana Star Casino. US Bookmaking provides the risk management and operations for sportsbook at Santa Ana Star Casino.

The Attorney General wants to monitor the tribal gaming compacts. Also, the AG wants to work on a law for better regulation of sports betting.  At present, there are no plans to expand sports betting to allow price per head sportsbook operators in the state.

The Buffalo Thunder sportsbook will start accepting sports wagering just in time for March Madness. The NCAA basketball tournament is the second biggest sports betting event after the NFL Super Bowl.
