Nick Bowyer is the 2024 World Amateur Poker Champion

The 2024 Amateur Poker Association and Tour concluded its World Championship of Amateur Poker last weekend. After winners of twenty-two events played each other, Nick Bowyer emerged as the 2024 World Amateur Poker Champion.
Nick Bowyer, who won the £210 WCOAP Main Event, may rightfully claim to have been the 2024 Amateur Poker World Champion and the tournament’s top finisher. Since the APAT WCOAP is like the WSOP for amateur players, every tournament is very competitive. But all the glory and cash will be handed out in the Main Event.
This year’s WCOAP Main Event had 518 players, with the top 76 sharing the £90,650 prize money, experts in bookie software confirm. There was a £350 minimum cash prize, with a minimum of £1,000 going to the top 18 and a minimum of £1,900 going to each of the nine finals.

In keeping with his stellar start to the poker season, Marius Mantu was busted in ninth place for £1,900. The first real cash transaction processed by Mantu occurred in April 2024. After that, he reached the final table nine times and earned a dozen additional cash in low-stakes tournaments. Regular at Dusk Till Dawn events, Waheed “Wadey” Ashraf, took eighth place, earning £2,150, while Jonathan Brown, fresh off his victory in the PokerStars UKIPT London Main Event, finished seventh, earning £2,500.
Fifth place was given £2,900 to Ricky Keshav, who faded on the last lap. Dane Tallen, who competed for Newcastle and finished sixth, lost £3,400. In 2017, Tallen won the Main Event of the UK-leg of the APAT Amateur Poker Championship. However, he was not successful this time around.
With Tallen out of the running, the 2024 WCOAP Main Event is now in the running for medals; in addition to the cash prizes, the top three finishers get bronze, silver, and gold. Matas Gerdziunas was the unlucky person whose secondary bubble burst. Despite feeling let down, Gerdziunas earned £4,000, a new personal best for him.
Now that James Morris had taken home the bronze medal and £6,000, it was a heads-up between Daniel Fisher and Nick Bowyer, who were both assured of recording their best-ever scores. Ultimately, Bowyer prevailed, denying Fisher the gold medal, a commemorative bracelet, £15,000, and the title of 2024 APAT WCOAP Main Event winner. Fisher was awarded £9,000 and the silver medal.
APAT WCOAP Results
After defeating the £350 High Roller, Gholamreza Mohammadi became the most significant individual winner outside the Main Event. With an astounding return on investment of £10,780 from his initial commitment of £350, Mohammadi outlasted the 107 other players who participated in the High Roller.
David Howard, who won two 2024 WCOAP championships, deserves special recognition. Howard won the No-Limit Hold ’em Shootout bracelet for £70, and the £140 Limit Hold ’em Championship at £140. Howard won four APAT gold medals before the 2017 World Championships. Very well done, sir.
