The Queens casino plans are now in doubt as state Senator Jessica Ramos voiced her opposition against them. Steve Cohen planned to develop the Citi Field into an entertainment complex in partnership with Hard Rock Hotel. Also, it will feature gaming facilities.

Funding for this would come from local initiatives, such as a pledge to build climate-ready infrastructure and the addition of 20 acres of parkland and 5 acres of sports fields and playgrounds.

According to a bookie pay per head forum, the proposed Metropolitan Park would occupy fifty acres of land that is now the stadium’s parking lot. Now, though, Ramos has spoken out strongly against the idea.

Ramos condemned the decades of disinvestment that have driven many New Yorkers to the point where they would accept a casino as a means to revitalize the neighborhood. According to the best pay per head bookie, the proposal might hit a snag if this happens. For Cohen to develop what is formally city-owned parkland, Ramos has to approve a parkland alienation bill.

Instead, Ramos offers a balanced alternative to the alienation measure. Cohen and Hard Rock could construct a hotel and conference center, with the planned open green space doubled, but a casino would still be off-limits.

Locations for NY Downstate Casinos

The New York State Gaming Commission expects not to finalize the three downstate casino locations until late 2025. However, several operators are still vying for position, each dealing with its own set of problems. Cohen and Hard Rock have proposed Citi Field in one of four boroughs, while Yonkers in the other.

Genting Group and MGM Resorts are among the bidders interested in finding new uses for old buildings. MGM is planning a full-scale commercial resort for the Empire City Casino, which was once a video lottery racino; the same project may be in the works for Resorts World NYC in Queens, owned by Genting.

The Chickasaw Nation, Saratoga Casino Holdings, and Thor Equities compete for a license in Coney Island, Brooklyn. However, residents have already expressed their disapproval in public forums.

Manhattan is home to two major players in the bidding process: Caesars Entertainment and Wynn Resorts. Although neighbors have voiced worries about bringing extra traffic to an already congested region, Wynn’s property in Hudson Yards is particularly desirable.

Additionally, Caesars has teamed up with Jay-Roc Nation for a location in Times Square, among New York City’s busiest parts.

At Ferry Point in the Bronx, where Trump formerly played golf, Bally’s Corporation proposed constructing a casino. That can depend on a struggle for control of the company amongst shareholders. K&F Growth Capital is attempting to thwart Standard General’s plan to take the operator private by suggesting a more simplified strategy to remove it from consideration for New York. Without brick-and-mortar casinos, you can become an online bookie and fill the void.
