Sports bettors in Pennsylvania will have a new option by Thanksgiving. The Wind Creek Bethlehem sportsbook plans to open by then. The State Gaming Control Board approved the casino’s application to conduct sports betting.
Thus, Wind Creek will start the construction of the sportsbook around August 18. Its expected opening will be around November 21. It will be available in time of the Week 11 of the NFL. Wind Creek contracted Betfred to operate the sportsbook.
The casino operator will construct the sportsbook at the current location of Buddy V’s Ristorante. Buddy V’s will continue to work with the casino. It will offer food and beverage within the new sportsbook.
According to online bookie software providers, the sportsbook will have 79 TV monitors. Also, it will have thirteen self-service betting kiosks with four supervisors and eight ticket writers and cashiers.
Wind Creek Bethlehem will be a venue where people can watch sports and bet on them. Based on bookie pay per head sources, the casino plans to offer mobile and online sports betting ahead of the retail sportsbook opening. However, it didn’t give a timeline for the plan.
Betfred USA will be the operator of the sportsbook. It is a subsidiary of the UK-based company. Its US headquarters is in Las Vegas. According to pay per head bookie reports, it runs a sportsbook in Iowa. Also, it is opening another one in Colorado.
Wind Creek Bethlehem was temporarily closed since March 15. It is the latest Pennsylvania casino to venture into sports betting. The first sportsbook in the state is The Downs, which opened in March.
Aside from the new sportsbook, the casino has various improvement projects. One of the plans is a new hotel with 270 room capacity. It will be connected to the existing casino hotel.
