Michigan Sports Betting Licenses are Now Available

Last updated on July 4th, 2020 at 04:15 pm

The Michigan Gaming Control Board is now opening their doors to sportsbook and online casino operators. Should you want to operate an online gambling business, you can now submit your application. With a great potential for a Michigan sports betting market, the state will benefit from revenues soon. Especially if they start as scheduled, which will be to have online gambling by the end of this year, or early 2021.

There are different ways that one can establish an online gaming site. Some decide to put up their own Pay Per Head sportsbook operation, while some will be forming partnerships with casinos. By opening up the application process, the state is one step closer in seeing sports betting in Michigan.

Michigan Sports Betting Market

Michigan Sports BettingThe increase of registration to use bookie pay per head software was expected, given the pandemic keeping everyone home. But even before then, there was a healthy interest in a growing online sports betting market across the world. In the US, states are slowly allowing sports betting, but less than a handful allow for online wagering.

A lot of pay per head bookie experts are already anticipating the restart of the top sports leagues in the US, which will bring about millions in wagers. While Michigans’ plans may be too late for this current season, they are still doing better than other states.

Gambling in the State

Since May 15, any interested operator can sign up and apply for an online gaming license. Currently, mobile sports wagering, online casinos, and online poker is allowed. Its retail counterparts, for sports betting at least, are all located in Detroit. The first ever wager was placed back in March, after Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed the gaming bills in December last year.

The state may not reopen just yet, but local gambling operators, such as tribal casinos, are already forming partnerships with sports betting operators in bringing in both retail and online sportsbooks to their casinos. Even the state’s horse racing track will have an area where people can place advance deposit wagering.
